GIGWAY
Redesigning Gigway's job matching platform
Gigway is a job matching platform with around 3000 users per month, helping companies find local freelance talents and managing the associated adminstrative work; at the same time enabling talents to live the flexible freelance life.
The mission of this redesign was to make the core flows of the platform more intuitive and to provide users with more feedback throughout the experience. As the sole designer in this project, I applied end-user feedback and stakeholder input to create a high-fidelity prototype, to be implemented in collaboration with the front-end team.

ROLE
UX/UI Designer
PROJECT
Rethinking and redesigning the manager and freelancer platform respectively
Problems
An increase in platform traffic during the fall of 2020 brought about more user feedback, revealing issues in the core flows of creating and managing a hiring process (companies) and applying to gigs (freelancers).
User feedback revealed frustration on very basic tasks, such as finding your new messages, or identifying the next step in the process of creating a gig or applying to a gig. The common theme was lack of transparency and guidance in these processes.
Lack of feedback
An example of this lack of feedback is in the application process. As a freelancer, I have applied to two gigs, wherefore they lie in the column "In discussion". Even though I applied to them months ago, and even withdrawed my application from one of them, they still appear to be relevant.
In the chat from where I withdrawed my application, I still have the action "Withdraw application" available. I happen to know that they signed this gig with another candidate, but this information never reaches the freelancer.
Project goals
Goals for this project included:
The conversion rate of signing up to the platform > signing the gig with a candidate is currently 33% and could be improved by a redesign.
Target users
The users of Gigway's platform are on one hand freelancers, looking for work, and on the other company managers, looking for reinforcement.
Freelancers
The typical freelancer user of Gigway's platform is a young, tech-savvy person working within web, marketing or design.
A survey sent out in May 2019 reaching 52 freelancers revealed that 79% of respondents struggle most with sales - getting enough clients and work - in their freelance life. Gigway's core business aims to solve this problem.
Company managers
The typical company is a smaller company or an agency who need reinforcement for bigger or smaller projects, often within e-commerce and marketing. The customer is often the founder of the company.
Design
The redesign covers a large part of the current platform. On the freelancer side, the redesign of the application process is focused on better user control and feedback in different scenarios - receiving a proposal, rejecting a gig, gig expires, etc. I also explored potentially new features, including the ability to create teams and a marketplace for freelancers to highlight their work and offers.
